So, for far too long now, we have been trying to get a dinner date on the books with an american couple that I met through our Embassy here in Berlin. Ironically I was able to meet up with the Colonel in Paris at the home of mutal friends, but somehow we had yet to meet here in Berlin. Well about three weeks ago I wrote to his wife and we made a date for the 25th of September. I planned and designed the tablescape and put together a menu and grocery list. All that was left to do was to actually go to the grocery store and start cooking. I was as good as out the door, when my neice called to let me know that one of the guests at the first communion celebration we had all attended, had been tested postive for Corona. Our doctor here recommended that my husband and I self-quaratine for a few days, as a precaution. Well, you guessed it, dinner with the Colonel and his wife had to be postponed… yet again. I know I should not complain, but gosh darn it… we were all looking forward to finally having a dinner together. So, although I can not tell you about the fun we would have had, I can share with you the tablescape and in few weeks I can then tell you all about dinner as the new date is already on the books.
Yes, you are seeing correctly… there is a chip on the plate. It is quite a long story, but lets just say the Vino was to blame!
I love the Lampion Flowers…. they come from my girlfriend in Cloppenburg.
The wine glasses were my mothers. These wine glasses have traveled twice now over an ocean. Bought in Germany…. enjoyed in America, only to return to Germany after my mother passed. These wine glasses only come out for very very special occasions.
