First Day of School
Here in Germany, the first day school, to be exact the first day of first grade is a very very big deal. Said child gets a large “Zuckertüte” which is cone shaped and filled with treats! Usually the “Zuckertüte” matches the new school bag. There is a ceremony at school, followed by a mass for the catholic schools and then the famlies go home for a big party. Germans take the first day of school very seriously.
Thanks to my Cricut, I was able to cut out Abc´s and 123´s quickly and with ease.
The napkins were bought at Butlers and Depot. These cloth napkins are a favorite of mine and you can see them in several posts, for example the latest Fall Folliage Tablescape
The dinner plates are from Rosenthal(the dishes we recieved when we got married, almost 30 years ago) The drinking glasses were bought at TK Maxx
The tablescape was just a little dark, so I sat down and made some paper flowers…I think it brightened up the table just fine.
The black rocks? Well, i just took some chalk board paint and upcycled some rocks out of the yard. Same for the charger plates, I just took some charger plates that I do not use anymore and painted them with chalkboard paint that I bought at Action Markt.
Wishing you all a happy week. Congratulations to all those new first graders and Good Luck to everyone else returning to school… Make the 2018-2019 School Year the best one yet!
A special shout out to all of the students out there starting their last year of schooling. Senior Year is full of special memories, ones that you will remember for a life time. The highlight of my senior year was playing a solo piece in the spring band concert. I know….geeky to no end, but it sure was special to me.
