Silvester/New Year´s Eve….. Here in Germany this evening is taken very, very seriously. Sometimes, I think even more than Christmas, if you can believe that. There are several tradtions that we hold dear to our german hearts(well, half of my heart is amercian and always will be) One of our traditions is watching Dinner For One…. OMG… if you have never seen this, you really really need to( but we will save that story for another post) . Another tradition is to go outside at midnight and shoot off fireworks into the sky…. this year my little town of Kleinmachnow let off fireworks for one hour and 40 mintues!!!!! But I guess the most important tradition, actually this is more a personal tradition is that we spend time with friends…. cooking and eating a delicious meal. So.. me being the tablescaping Guro of our family of course I take pride in setting the table for, as we call here in Germany… Silvester.
I found this reindeer at Ikea… found them in silver and gold and of course I had to buy them.
The little gift boxes on each plate are also from Ikea. The gold chargers are from Nanu Nana.
Most of you know, that my a lot of my craziness when it comes to everything around my home is due largely cause of my mom…. Well she had bought these decorations that I hung over the table… I think they are the perfect touch.
The table runner is paper, which is usually not my style, but it was just soooooooooooooo pretty I had to buy the role. The main tablecloth is acutally just a bed sheet that I bought at Ikea.. So there… I let you in on one of my decorating secrets. Although, it is really not my idea, but Ina Gardens!
I love my dishes….. they are from Rosenthal and the series is calles Asymetria. Unfortunately, Rosenthal discontinued the series a few years ago.
Have a great weekend Everyone…. see you soon
