So… yes I know I have been, once again MIA…….Thankgiving kind of got in my way of blogging..We have been home now over a month from our cruise…..I seriously do not like how time flies and would really, really like to know I can slow it down!
Our first taste of Italy was Neapel. We opted for the exursion to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast
Pier Carlo Piscane— Port of Naples: Arrival:
Due to CoVid and Italian Protokols, we were not allowed to leave the ship on our own. If you wanted to leave the ship you were required to book an exursion through the RCL. Now we all know that these exursions are not inexpensive. But, we are living in a pandemic and so we follow all the rules, because lets face it, we all want to stay healthy and are all happy to be able to travel again. Pompeii has always been a dream of mine, so we reserved two spots on the Pompeii/Amalfi Coast Tour. We met our tour group in Studio B at 07:30 am!! With all the necessary documents in hand, our group left the Symphony and boarded a tour bus. We had a great tour guide, boy, she sure was full of information for us. I think I need to buy a book about Pompeii, because I certainly did not mangage to retain all what she told us that day.
Our first stop was a small Limoncello Factory. We got to do some tasting…. limoncello, limoncello cream, and limoncello grappa…. needless to say, we took some of the grappa home with us.
From there we drove to Pompeii. I know that I can not find the words to properly describe Pompeii. So I will just say it was amazing. So much information to take in and oh so much to look at. Did you know, that back then they had a bakery and even a Brothel?! I think what really blew me away, was what the people of Pompeii built without the use of modern technology.
So, after the tour we were treated to an amazing lunch…. italien style. Pasta and red wine, this girl was in heaven. After lunch it was decided that the boat ride along the Amalfi Coast was not possible due to weather. That did not stop our Bus Driver, he offered to drive us. OMG…. I really thought this it… this is how you are going leave this world. The road was not that wide, one wrong move and that bus with all of us in it, was going down.
I have chosen not to fill this post with all the history and stuff…. there is google for that. This is just my take on an amazing day.
Back on the ship, we had dinner and then sat on our balcony over looking the Boardwalk and got to watch the Water Show.
