First Communion.. one of the sacraments that a catholic recieves and well it is a pretty big deal and deserves a celebration with family and friends. Clara, my great niece was to recieve her first communion in May of this year, but as we all know, Corona had other plans for us humans living on earth. Back in April the celebration of course got axed. We laid aside the menu plans, put a hold on discussing the tablescape and hung the dress back in the closet. Oh that dress, we spent the next months praying the child would not grow an inch till the new date in September. Well she did not grow an inch or in our case a cm, no she grew 1ocm and that meant a new dress. Thankfully, the store exchanged it without any trouble. In August after the dress debacle was clarified, we started dreaming and planning. Once an invite was picked, I got busy planning the tablescape. First call was to my girlfriend the florist, who designed the flower arrangements. Second call was to my sister, with the request she go to the party store for me and pick out the napkins and table runners(I live 5 hours away, so I was not able to do the shopping myself) Since we live in an age of whats apps and facetimes, she was able to pick out exactly what I wanted. My sister and niece are also friends with the local indoor playarea for kids, so we were able to borrow all the dishes we needed. Even though the celebration was quite different than we thought it would be, it still was a beautiful day. Happy and thankful I was able to be a part of it all.
The white tablescloths were on loan from my sister
The napkins and tablerunners were bought at Witap in Essen(Oldb)
The flower arrangements were made my girlfriend/florist. With her son she owns and operates Kläne Floristik&Pflanzen in Bethen Germany
