Around this time of year, you can find my “homies” getting ready for the Run for Respect. This is a 5K Run to bring awareness to the world that we all should learn to respect all–including those with mental and physical handicaps. A few years ago a Virtual 5K was included and that allowed people from all over the world to participate. The power behind this is Laura a teacher at Pontiac Township High School in Pontiac ILlinois. Laura and I graduated long ago from PTHS…..it is always an honor to be apart of the Run for Respect. Every year I try to run my 5k somewhere different. The first year I ran in the Berlin Tiergarden and my son Mike took some great pictures of the surrounding monuments. One year I ran(well nordic walked actually) in Potsdam and another year I simply ran my usual path where I live. THIS year, I went back downtown, running past several embassies and finishing at the courtyard of the Bendlerblock, the army Headquarters. So please grab a cup of joe or a glass of vino and enjoy some of the pictures/selfies I took this morning.
As always a pleasure and a privelage to run the Virtual 5K……one day I will be in Pontiac to run with everyone!
