Yes, even in winter this family likes to grill burgers and brats outside on the grill! My son and some friends went to the local, well relatively local…living here in Berlin nothing is really “just around the corner” paintball place. Anyhow, after their fun filled day, the gang came back to our house for hamburgers and brats. Of course I made those out of this world onion strings again (as always none were left over). Seeing as today is new recipe Sunday and considering I had this large bag of potatoes that needed to be used, I decided to try my hand again at making my own french fries…..
……..that meant seeing if the Pioneer Woman could help me out!!! Found the recipe, got to work and as with the those onion strings….no french fries leftover.
Step One: cut the potatoes into sticks. Soak the potato sticks in cold water for at least 2-3 hours. It is also possible to soak them over nite. Then, drain the water and lay the potato sticks on baking sheets lined with paper towels…blot dry.
Step Two. Cook the potatoes for 4-5 minutes per batch(potatoes should be soft). Oil should be at 300 F.
Step Three. Remove each batch and drain on fresh paper towels.
Step Four. Increase the heat to 400 F and fry the potatoes again until gold and crisp.
Step Five. Sprinkle with sea salt and enjoy!
